Matt Savage: The Year Of The Cat

Matt Savage was born in 1992 in Sudbury, Massachusetts. At the age of 3 he was diagnosed with a form of autism known as pervasive developmental disorder.

He avoided harsh and loud sounds as a small child, but he taught himself to read sheet music by the time he was 6. He started out playing classical music but by and by he fell in love with jazz.

And he wasn't kidding around. By the time he was 7 he was studying at the New England Conservatory of Music.

In this homemade clip, he is onstage with British folk singer-songwriter Al Stewart, and you find yourself almost wishing he had the stage to himself.

Putting disabilities completely to the side, it is great to watch a 15-year old kid just unload on "The Year Of The Cat," which has one of the best piano riffs of any pop record of the past 40 years.

So, please enjoy Matt Savage, and have a great weekend.
